Holly Hill is an organic farm and outdoor education center in Cohasset. In addition to the great farm features (animals, plant sales, farmstand), which are reason enough to visit, the grounds offer miles of easy walking trails in the Cornelia & Richardson White Woods for exploring the surrounding meadows and my kids' favorite feature, the Ice Pond. The "Friends of Holly Hill” non-profit group runs educational programs for kids, adults, and families throughout the year. A typical visit for our family includes a walk to the Ice Pond, a stop to say hello to our favorite animals (including Pumpkin the pony), and a quick shopping trip at the farm stand for produce and other local goodies. If you and your kids are game for hiking a bit more, the farm is adjacent to the Barnes Sanctuary and Wheelwright Park, where you can explore hemlock groves and holly trees. Keep an eye out for the huge boulders along the trail as well as wild turkeys and grey fox!
