Charles River Walk Downtown

This beautiful route starts on the north side of the Moody Street Bridge where the Charles River Reservation path is marked by two granite pillars. The path continues parallel to the river on each side of Moody Street, but a nice route is to follow the path west towards Prospect Street. This tree-lined route offers great views of the river and opportunities to view birds and other wildlife. Bring old bread crumbs or crackers, and keep the kids entertained by feeding the ducks!

Once you reach Prospect Street, you can turn around or cross over the river using the Prospect Street Bridge. Turn left and continue on Cresecent Street, heading left onto the Riverwalk along Cronin's Landing Condominiums back to Moody Street.

This paved path is great for strollers. Trail bikes and dogs allowed.

Plan B:

If the weather turns bad, the Waltham Library is within walking distance from the River Walk.

Or, you can visit the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation (154 Moody Street) for hands-on exhibits on Waltham’s Boston Manufacturing Company, the Metz Company, the Waltham Watch Factory, and Orient bicycles from the Waltham Manufacturing Company. Call 781-893-5410 for more information.

Where to Eat Nearby:

Moody Street intersects the walkway and offers a plethora of restaurant options.
