The Western Greenway provides a long hike through urban Waltham.

Western Greenway Trail

Linking Beaver Brook Reservation, Rock Meadow, Stonehurst and several other green spaces in Waltham, the Western Greenway offers several walking paths and trails of all lengths and challenge levels.  This corridor includes a wildlife sanctuary, thick forests, a large "quaking" bog, vernal pools, and miles of old carriage roads. There's something here for everyone. The trail is well-maintained, but there are areas of rocks and roots to step over, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear! At times, there are other intersecting paths to take, but follow the green trail blazes to stay on the Greenway. You can make this trip a quick out-and-back walk in the woods, or bring a snack for a long day hike.

Sorry, no dogs allowed.

Plan B:

Visit one of Waltham's historic mansions - Gore Place, the Robert Treat Paine Estate, or the Lyman Estate - visit walthamtourism.com for more information and for tour schedules.

Where to Eat Nearby:

Grassfields, Waltham Pizza, and Friendly's are all located nearby on Lexington Street, or head a few blocks south to downtown Waltham, where there are a number of restaurants to choose from on Main and Moody Street.
