Ruins and old carriage trails will interest history buffs.

Macomber bridge

Macomber Estate, formerly known as Raceland, was once the home of a horse racetrack that operated through the 1950s.  John R. Macomber built Raceland in the 1920s, and you can still enjoy the old carriage trails traverse the parcel, as well as the ruins of the estate.  This 57-acre park encompasses meadows, wetlands, streams and upland forests. An inner woodland loop offers a short hike through beautiful, forested trails.   If you choose to continue around the park perimeter, a longer trail features several crossings over Barton Brook, and it offers lovely views of the Stearns Reservoice. All-terrain strollers will be able to handle the rolling trails. Dogs are welcome.

Plan B:

Take a trip to the Framingham Historical Society at 16 Vernon Road, Framingham, and explore their rich exhibits, programs and community celebrations.

The Framingham History Center is located in three historic buildings around the Framingham Center Commons: the Edgell Memorial Library, Village Hall, and the Old Academy.  Parking for the Old Academy may be accessed off of Grove Street behind the Jonathan Maynard Building.  Open Wednesday - Saturday 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

Where to Eat Nearby:

Head north to Route 9 and take the access road towards Framingham. There are many dining options on either side of the road.
