Boardwalks over wetland habitats make for a unique hiking experience.

Sudbury River at Carol Getchell Trail

The one-mile Carol Getchell Trail features boardwalks over wetland habitats, benches, and great views of the Sudbury River, as well as boat access on the northern end. Turtles, frogs, herons, and various fish can be regularly seen in the area.  Easy, flat trails make this an accessible walk.  Walk the entire trail, or just spend time enjoying the attractions on either end.  You can get closest to the Sudbury River at the trailhead on Little Farms Road.  Or, take your time exploring the boardwalks that traverse the southern section, near the Danforth Bridge. Don't miss the informational kiosk about local wildlife constructed by the Friends of Saxonville!

Plan B:

Turn back on Little Farms Road, and head down Elm Street to the intersection with Water Street. There'll you'll find the historic mills of the Saxon Factory Company, for which the neighborhood was named.

Where to Eat Nearby:

There are several places to eat at the intersection of Water Street and Elm Street, the heart of Saxonville.
