This unpaved road is great for kids, bicycles, and hardcore strollers!
This unpaved road is great for kids, bicycles, and hardcore strollers! There's a small parking lot at Ice House Landing, at the end of Winter Street. There's a boat launch, and in the warm months it's common to see families fishing. The town has put in a nice marker and some picnic tables along the water. The trail, now a dirt road, runs straight alongside the river, with many gorgeous views of the water. The Assabet River NWR is on the left. You can find many different animal tracks if it's muddy or snowy. Occasional cars will come down this road, but otherwise, it makes for a peaceful and quiet walk.
Plan B:The new visitor's center at the Assabet River NWR is great to see.
Where to Eat Nearby:There are lots of restaurants in Maynard's downtown, including Serendipity Coffee.
