Revere Beach is America's oldest public beach.

Founded in 1896, Revere Beach is America's oldest public beach. Just 4 miles north of downtown Boston, the beach offers 84 acres of sand for public enjoyment. In the first half of the twentieth century, the beach offered many carnival games and amusement park rides including the "Cyclone," one of the fastest roller coasters in the United States when it was built in 1927. After a period of decline in the 1960s and 1970s, Revere Beach was officially renovated and reopened in 1992. Today, Revere Beach is the perfect place for your family to enjoy the sun on a hot summer day, or to take a walk and explore the coastline in the cooler months. The park is dotted with covered seating areas with picnic tables.

Plan B:

Take your children to nearby Belle Isle Marsh in East Boston, where they can explore mucky wetland habitats and climb to the top of a tower that provides beautiful views of Boston's last remaining salt marsh.

Where to Eat Nearby:

There are a wide variety of local restaurants on Revere Beach Boulevard. Check out the flagship location of Kelly's Roast Beef for a nostalgic and historical Revere experience.
