Stageford Park in Gloucester is a great way to spend an entire day outside! There's a big playground for the kids, there is a small beach that's with a lifeguard, plus there is a shower. You can walk around the park right along the ocean, have a picnic anywhere on the big lawn, or stroll along the water walkway into Gloucester downtown (about a 10-minute walk). I've seen people pull out their grill and spend the afternoon and evening here while the kids enjoyed the playground with friends.
