Overview

This adventure is designed for families in search of a fun winter experience. Our trip begins with an orientation session and overnight at AMC's Highland Center. We'll review the programs and discuss each days focus. On the first full day we'll learn how to snowshoe. AMC Guides will share tips and techniques on how to move through the snow and up and down hills. We'll take a snowshoe hike in Crawford Notch. The second day we'll offer Nordic skiing at local Nordic Center. AMC Guides will lead ski tours on the groomed network. Lessons will be available for anyone interested in learning or improving their skiing. Ski rentals are available at the nordic center. Guides will fill time between skiing and snowshoeing with snowshelter building, and games on snowshoes. AMC Guides will point out and identify animal tracks as well as other natural history of the winter world. The terrain is beginner to moderate and the pace will be comfortable with plenty of time to explore and learn. Recommended for families with children ages 8 and up. Program Highlights: Camaraderie of parents and children exploring winter together Professional winter guides unlocking the tips to safe, enjoyable winter adventures Multi-sport winter sampler from snowshoeing to groomed cross-country ski trails Cross-country lessons and equipment rental packages are available at an additional cost. Opportunity to spot animal tracks and unique winter natural adaptations.
