Overview

Join Family Outings for our third annual Connecticut River Paddle Overnight, with EASY to MODERATE paddling pace. This is a great introduction for families to the fun of canoe camping. We put in at Pauchaug Brook, Northfield, MA Saturday early afternoon and paddle ~ 5.6 miles down river to Munn's Ferry where we camp Saturday night. Sunday after breakfast we pack up and get an early start to avoid the wind. We paddle ~ 3.2 miles to an early lunch at Riverview Picnic and Recreation Area and then another 5.3 miles to our take-out at Barton's Cove. We supply the boats. Bring your own Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch. Social Distancing will be maintained. Some paddling experience is necessary. Trip limited to 10 people including leader(s). Cost per person to be determined includes campsite & boats. Each family member will need to be registered separately.

Tip of the Day

When it’s too hot to move, take an ice cube bath. Bring a bowl of ice cubes outside and take turns melting them on your bodies. Which tickles more, behind the neck or behind the knee?
